Big things and decisions are happening around here!
We have decided to homeschool for this year, now that Dominik is only a year away from Kindergarten. So, we are homeschooling for preschool!
Dominik attended a few months of preschool last year before Vera was born, but we ended up taking him out shortly after her birth. He was struggling to adjust to the new member of the family and spent so much time getting sick, that he wasn’t attending much of school anyway (last year’s flu season was bad!). In the weeks after taking him out, we noticed a HUGE improvement in his behavior. He was calmer, more focused, and most importantly HAPPIER.
This decision to homeschool this whole year didn’t come lightly or without a million questions, so here’s how we came to it. First, I have credentials to teach preschool. So it was always something in the back of my mind because I knew that I was capable of providing pre-k instruction to my child. Then, we considered the financial side of things. Preschool is expensive, especially here in Southern California, so finding a quality preschool that’s also affordable is next to impossible.
But the biggest deciding factor was the lack of play-based preschools that we could afford. A few of the preschools we looked at barely gave kids a half hour of free time outside. Young children need lots of unstructured, outdoor time. Then there were other, smaller considerations such as what I wanted Dominik to learn. He was interested in nature and cooking and enjoys doing laundry.
And so, I wrote a homeschool preschool curriculum!
AND I started an Etsy shop! Right now, you can buy the whole Autumn homeschool curriculum. And soon you can get curriculums for Winter, Spring, and even Summer! I also have some fun cookbooks in the works that will be available soon.
That’s 12 WEEKS of lessons plan with a daily schedule, book lists, art activities, recipes, printables, and tons of projects in science, math, literacy, and even history. This has been a true labor of love and I am so excited to share it with you.
I’ve also included TWO BONUS LESSONS! These are great introductory lessons to get things rolling and test the waters.
The best part is that this curriculum is totally customizable! Switch things around, skip lessons, add your own, make it fit your life!
